Exhibition Venue of WCIETF in Chengdu of Sichuan ----INTRODUCTION to SICHUAN PROVINCE of CHINA
The 9th “Western China International Economy & Trade Fair” (hereinafter called “WCIETF”) will be held grandly on May 25-28, 2008 in Chengdu City, the capital of Sichuan province, which is a major large province of China.
In order to help Canadian enterprises, institutions and economy and trade groups to know the general condition of the exhibition venue of WCIETF, we made a summary of the information on Sichuan provided by the organizing committee of the 9th? WCIETF.? ?
Sichuan province is a famous large province in China, its land area is 480,000 square kilometers, the population is 83 million. There are 32 cities in Sichuan. Sichuan province takes the reputation of “the land of abundance” from ancient time; is one of the important industrial bases in China. The major local industries include metallurgy, mining, chemical industry, machinery, aviation and aerospace, electronic industry, tourism…etc. Sichuan is situated in an important location in China, is one of the largest agriculture base producing grain, oil, rapeseed, sugarcane, tea, orange, silk and pigs. The Chinese traditional medicinal materials are also famous domestically and in foreign countries. Sichuan province is a famous scenic spot for tourists, with plentiful of beautiful tour resources. There are four natural cultural legacies confirmed and acknowledged by United Nations, so it is a famous major tourism destination province in China. For its abundant tourism resources, biological resources, energy resources, mining resources, the Chengdu Plain is one of the four basins.
Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is one of the fifteen province-level cities of China. With population of two millions, Chengdu is the important centre of economy, culture, technology, education and the hub of transportation and telecommunication in the west part of China. Some globally famous companies like Microsoft, French Carrefour, American Wal-Mart, Japanese Auto company and other top 500 companies of the world have already offices in Chengdu.
The climate of Sichuan province is in the range of subtropical climate, sunlight is averagely available from 9:00-16:00 hours per year each season. The average temperature of a whole year is 14-19℃, the quantity of precipitation of a whole year is 900-1200mm. May, the month when WCIETF fair being held, has the best weather in a year in Sichuan, is also the season that can attract the most global tourists coming here to travel.
China’s Central(federal) Government confirms that this unique international economy and trade fair will be held in Sichuan Province annually and supported by collective effort from seven central government’s Ministries/Commissions, plus twelve provincial governments in the west and Sinkiang building corps. From which, we can see the hub location of Sichuan province in China and the attention of the world to the investment and cooperation opportunities in Chengdu/Sichuan.
