Being organized successfully for eight times already annually since 2000 in Chengdu City, where is called “the land of abundance” of Sichuan province, the “Western China International Economy & Trade Fair”(hereinafter called WCIETF) is A UNIQUE EXHIBITION YOU SHOULD NOT MISS, also an important national event for China’s western regions(12 provinces/cities). As the leader of the western regions, Sichuan province has advantages like: larger vision, higher education level, international knowledge, professionalism, being an effective hub and other outstanding conditions,
This Fair is co-organized by 20 (7+13)government departments, including seven ministries/commissions of the central(federal)-level government: Ministry of Commerce, China Western Development Office, National Tourism Administration…etc; plus 13 western provincial-level governments: Sichuan province, Chongqing city, Shanxi province, Sinkiang building corps…etc. This WCIETF fair is highly recognized by China’s central government. The Deputy Prime Minister of China State Council- Ms. Yi Wu has reviewed the report of the 8th WCIETF(in 2007) several times. Also another Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Peiyan Zeng, vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Mengfu Huang and other leaders all attended this fair in recent years. In fact, WCIETF has become the most important nation-level exhibition in the western regions of China.
Being organized since 2000, WCIETF has been attended by president of World Bank, deputy president of Asia Development Bank, former prime minister of Korea, deputy prime minister of Thailand and leaders of other countries and international organization successively. Also, all the leaders handling economic task of all western provinces and some leaders from the eastern provinces have attended this fair in the past eight years. Some provinces and cities in the east and middle of China have organized groups to take part in this fair. Foreign enterprises, economy and trade delegates from more than 30 countries and regions have attended this fair, including reps from Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hong kong, Taiwan, Macao. During the exhibition period, there are many concurrent meetings ongoing, including business investment meetings, cooperation discussion meetings, economy and trade negotiation meetings, products presentation meetings and other activities, all these activities together make this fair an efficient and effective marketplace for meeting hundreds of right people under one roof. Therefore the synergistic effect make the WCIETF become more and more influential and the exhibition space grows year after year.
The total exhibition units used in the 8th WCIETF is 4,665 units, the total exhibition area used is 913,000 square meters, in which foreign companies like German Volkswagen Group, American General Motors Corp., American UPS Group, LG Group of Korea, AUDI Motors Group of Germany, Korean Samsung Group, Chia Tai Group of Thailand and other internationally famous large enterprises have shown up. There are more than one hundred USA enterprises taking part in this fair. Sector buyers from all of the world reached about 30,000, professional audience exceeded 300,000 people. As you can see, WCIETF fair presents limitless business opportunities and becomes a critical economic and trade bridge to access the huge growing market of China’s western 12 provinces.
The 9th WCIETF will be held in Century City New International Exhibition Center in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, from May 25 to May 28, 2008. The exhibition area will be increased to 100,000 square meters. It is estimated that the exhibitors will come from up to 50 countries/regions, there will be over ten times of market study meetings, introduction meetings, invitation to investment meetings… etc. There will be nation-based and regional Economic and Trade Day or Week activities to be organized.
