“WCIETF Fair Introduction” Meeting
China, one of the high speed developing countries acknowledged by the world, is the most active region on economy and business trade in Asia, and the western provinces of China is an area that possesses the most important market potential in China. The Development Strategy of the West Regions issued by China’s central (federal) government is to develop in the direction of economy, which creates a very rare business opportunity for China and for the world.
In order to help China and the world to catch this business opportunity, seven ministries and commissions (including Ministry of Commerce, China Western Development Office, National Tourism Administration and others) organize this unique national international economy and trade fair----“Western China International Economy & Trade Fair(WCIETF)” in Chengdu City of Sichuan Province, where is called “the land of bundance”, from May 25 to May 28 every year. Also, the co-organizers are twelve China’s western provincial governments (including Sichuan province, Chongqing city, Shanxi province, Sinkiang building corps…etc). This fair has been organized successfully for eight times annually since 2000.
The 8th WCIETF was held in May 2007. The exhibition area was 913,000 square meters.
There were exhibitors from over 30 countries/ regions, including USA, UK, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hongkong, Taiwan and etc. Deputy prime ministers, secretaries and ambassadors of some countries also attended that fair. Numbers of enterprises exhibiting in this fair was 4,665, visiting merchants exceeded 30,000 people, professional audience was 300,000 people. All kinds of discussion meetings were organized, including products presentation meetings and investment meetings...etc., totally were 51 meetings. The fair also showcased National Day or Week for specific countries and regions. The fair has become a platform for many enterprises, institutions and economy and trade groups of China and foreign countries for developing China market, product exhibition, investment, cooperation, invitation for project investment and business communication.
The 9th WCIETF will be held from May 25 to 28 in 2008 in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China. It is estimated that the exhibition area will be up to 100,000 square meters, where there will be nation zone, international friendship city zone, zone for top 100 companies in the world, investment and cooperation area, industrial manufacturing area, tourism and culture area, high/ new technology area, characteristic agriculture area, energy resources and chemical industry area and other professional areas in this fair space.
The exhibitors will be from over 50 countries and regions, sector buyers in China plus foreign buyers will exceed 30,000, professional audience still will be over 300,000 people.
The 9th WCIETF will present more opportunities, opportunities to develop new market, investment and cooperation, invitation for investment…etc. for exhibitors and professional audience from many countries.
The Chinese Industrial and Trade Council of Canada(CITCC) based in Richmond, B.C., is currently coordinating & linking Canada/North America with the 9th WCIETF. In order to enhance the Canada’s Asia-Pacific Gateway program and help Canadian enterprises/institutions to catch the business opportunities of WCIETF and western China, we encourage Canadian enterprises to register and exhibit in the fair actively. We will hold a free “WCIETF Fair Introduction” meeting to provide the details of WCIETF in the lecture hall of CITCC in the afternoon of Dec. 22 , 2007, at 2:30-5:00 PM.
