In order to connect and promote the communication and cooperation between China’s western twelve Provinces/Cities and Canada in industry, trade, investment, forestry, mining, energy sources, environmental protection, high or new technology, tourism and other business fields; to catch the business opportunities during the implementing phase in China’s Development of the West Regions; also to promote the export of merchandise and service of Canada, Chinese Industrial and Trade Council of Canada (hereinafter called “CITCC”), entrusted by 9th Western China International Economy & Trade Fair organizing committee (hereinafter called “WCIETF”), will invite and organize the interested enterprises and institutions of Canada to go to Chengdu city/China to attend this unique international economy & trade fair for prospects in western region of China-WCIETF, ?plus an optional business trip to visit other cities and more local enterprises.

　Now we inform the related proceedings as below:

　Ⅰ.Brief introduction to WCIETF
　This is a unique international economy & trade fair to meet representatives from ?the western regions of China, which is co-organized by seven ministries and commissions including Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, China Western Development Office, National Tourism Administration and others together with twelve China western provincial, city and regional governments, including Sichuan province, Chongqing city, Shanxi province, Sinkiang building corps, and others.

　Canadian enterprises, economic and trade organizations, industrial and commercial groups can take advantage of this good opportunity to develop China market through exhibition and sale of merchandise, promote investment and cooperation, as it is a one-stop marketplace to meet reps/buyers from 12 western provinces of China.
　WCIETF has been held in China’s western abundant city- Chengdu on May 25th – 28th every year since year 2000. The 8th WCIETF in 2007, whose exhibition area was 91.3 thousand square meters, there were exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions attending that fair, including USA, Britain, France, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hongkong and others. Some reps are deputy prime ministers, ambassadors of some countries attending that fair. The number of enterprises exhibited in the fair was 4,665; the number of visitors/buyers exceeded 30 thousand people, professional audience was 300 thousand people (for the sector seminars/forums).
　Content/projects exhibited included high/new technology products, international cooperation, industial manufacturing, energy/resources and chemical industry, tourism and culture, fashion life and etc. At the same time during the fair week, 51 meetings were held, including communication meeting, product presentations , investment projects, and several “Country Day/Week” activities for a group of exhibitors from the same country, for example, “German Day/Korean Day”. It is anticipated that 9th WCIETF in 2008 will have a bigger scale and attract more people to attend.?
　Ⅱ.WCIETF and business opportunities in the west of China
　Occupying above half of China’s land, as a growing huge market needing energy, resources, agriculture, tourism, technology and others, the west of China provides a good opportunity for Canadian enterprises, related institutions, economy and trade groups and ?can link with the of Asia-Pacific gateway program of Canada.
　China’s western twelve provincial, city, regional governments and Sinkiang building corps, all like to invite for business investment, joint venture and cooperation projects through this annual WCIETF event, Western Development Office of China’s State Council also announced favourable policy for WCIETF. The 9th WCIETF will provide 9 exhibition zones, including state and region zone, investment and cooperation zone, industry manufacturing zone, energy resources and chemical industry zone, characteristic agriculture zone, tourism and culture zone, high/new technology zone and etc. The total exhibition area will be up to 100 thousand square meter, exhibitors from 50+ countries and regions, sector buyers of China and all over the world will exceed 30 thousands, professional audience still will be over 300 thousand people. At the same time, the fair will hold tens economy and trade communication meeting, investment discussion meeting, product recommendation meeting and other related activities.

　CITCC will hold the activity of recommendation day on Canada-China business opportunities discussion together with the organizing committee of WCIETF. These abundant products and activities will create uncommon chance for Canadian enterprises, related institutions and economy and trade delegates developing China market and promoting cooperation.

　Ⅲ. Exhibition date and notice
　ⅰ.Date and place
　9th WCIETF will be held in New Century International Exhibition Center
in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China from May 25 to May 28, 2008, ?thereinto, the period of date 22-24 is the time of check-in and installing the booth, the period of date 5/25-5/28 is the exhibition time.
ⅱ.Exhibition sectors
　Coal and other energy resource, new material, new technology products, rail traffic equipment, biological products, information technology and equipment, petroleum and natural gas, chemical industry, characteristic agriculture, tourism and? culture, high/new technology, industrial manufacturing, business investment, forestry, mining, environmental protection equipment, automobile and motorcycle, real estate, instrument and meter, industrial equipment, electric equipment, metallurgy equipment, energy-saving equipment, handicraft, commodity, food, healthy products, construction equipment and etc.
　ⅲ.booth cost
　Standard booth（3MX3M）：us$1,800/booth，special decorative booth (rented area≥36㎡)：us$180/ M, thereinto，standard booth will be deployed three exhibition board, 2 lamps, 2 chair, 1 desk, 1 lintel board, 1 electrical outlet (5A220V). Space is provide as empty ground, no electrical source establishment, mostly for special decoration booth.
　ⅳ.Advertisement in proceedings of a conferences and charge standard

　Explanation：Pictures must be color reversion pictures or positive picture zoomed in of high quality, words must be refined and exact, advertising material used on proceedings of a presentation/conferences must be sent to secretariat of CITCC before Apr. 15, 2008.
　ⅴ. Notice
　（1）Exhibition company shall fill in the exhibition registration form and personnel registration form and send the cheque to the secretariat of CITCC.
　（2）CITCC and the organizing committee of WCIETF will together hold the activity of recommendation day on Canada-China business opportunities discussion, one-on-one business matching meeting, new product recommendation meeting and investment discussion meeting, technology transfer meeting, financing meeting and etc. To reserve your exhibition unit, please contact secretariat of CITCC before Mar. 30,2008.
　（3）CITCC will organize exhibition units and personnel of business trip group to attend the international business discussion meeting held at the same period and attended by important officials of China state industry administrative departments, famous experts, CEO of enterprises, international and governmental officials from exhibiting countries.
　（4）CITCC will organize the exhibition units to join in the honoring activity held by WCIETF, the award will includes two sorts: one is product award including gold medal, silver medal and copper medal, the other is booth design award. 　Ⅳ. Notice of business trip/visits
　ⅰ.Personnel of exhibition units and non-exhibition members of business trip group must fill in business trip registration form and email/fax it to secretariat of CITCC.?
ⅱ.Journey and time
　The China western business trip group will be for 13 days (preliminarily confirmed), among these days, it will take 5 days to participate in the WCIETF and related activities and meetings, it will take 1 day to visit enterprises in China’s western provinces/cities, it will take 5 days on tourism. A finalized journey agenda will be notified later.
