Mastering Chinese is the key to find a job. Financial Time reporter Ma Yu’an stationed in Tokyo states that the population of learning Chinese in college has over-passed those who are learning French and Germany. It is following English and Korean language. In Japan, there are some Chinese training classes but at time some people can not enroll it because there are too many people registering to learn Chinese.

France: Chinese increases faster than English
In France, there are many people learning Chinese. Ms. Huang from Chinese Embassy Education Office stationed in France said that France is the first HSK test site in Europe. Many Chinese learners from other European countries have to go to France to take part in HSK test. Noted from Lu Jianming, the president of world Chinese learning institute, that the developing rate of Chinese in France reaches 38 per cent but the rate of English, Japanese, Spanish is 2 percent to 4 percent.
Great Britain: More and more people are learning Chinese.
Zhang Zhinian, a journalist of Economy Daily in London says that more and more people in Britain are learning Chinese. Most of the young businessmen have ever learnt Chinese.

Expert explains: The global “Chinese upsurge” caused by large Chinese talents needed

Professor Zhang Weijia, the Chinese language expert, says that there are reasons for global “Chinese upsurge”.
First, the demand of talented technicians who can use Chinese as a foreign language grows with the rapid development of China economy and international trade.

Second, following the Chinese economy open to the world, the Chinese culture is revealing its mystery veil and shows itself in front of people. Therefore, Chinese also becomes “the famous doctrine”.

Third, the worldwide people are eager to directly know more about the current China because of China’s international influence expansion day by day.
Facing “Chinese upsurge” without well preparation.
Prof. Zhang Weijia states that the majors that foreign students in China are studying are changing recently, which expands from the simple language subject to science and technology, economy, management and law… For instance, among the over 3300 foreign students in Peking University, there are nearly half of the students majoring in other subjects besides Chinese language.
Such lasting “Chinese upsurge” brings good chance to spread Chinese in the world, but meanwhile challenge comes. Prof. Zhang said we were lack of well preparation facing “Chinese upsurge”, such as insufficient promotion of sinology and Chinese, Improving overseas Chinese teachers’ quality needed and further strengthening teaching material construction needed and so on.

Chinese is “polluted” by China-English net words
Prof. Zhang introduces that though the whole world people are pushing to learn Chinese, there are still few people polluting Chinese on some certain occasion, for example, expression with complex Chinese-English, net special words, changing Chinese figure and so on. Our society and media should pay much attention to this case but needn’t much worry about it. Prof. Zhang says it is normal to confuse Chinese and English. Any open country would meet such case in language lives. Even developed America could not avoid its happening but it didn’t influence the development of American English. Our language policy and stipulation can solve part problems. The “Chinese upsurge” in overseas will encourage people to have confidence in our native language.
